Staffordshire Vase Painting
Now, more than ever, I’ve wanted to bring the outside indoors but I still seem to have more vases than flowers! This cute little painting features a classic blue and white vase, holding cheery bright flowers, bordered with a golden scallop pattern. The frame has been repurposed, painted with gently distressed Oriental Red and backed with scrap William Morris wallpaper. Measuring approx 22cm x 17cm, including the frame. Signed on the back.
Reverse painting on glass is an art form consisting of applying paint to a piece of glass and then viewing the image by turning the glass over and looking through the glass at the image. I've added my own twist by applying mixed media, such as paper and gold leaf. This makes it a challenge but rewarding way to create original pieces.
