Left Staffordshire Cat Reverse Painting
I have a single righthand Staffordshire cat and for a while I tried to find it’s twin, but to no avail. So I decided to paint a one! Featuring a proud cushioned kitty, surrounded by flowers and bordered with a golden scallop design. The frame has been repurposed, painted with gently distressed Oriental Red and backed with scrap William Morris wallpaper. Measuring approx 19.8cm x 14.7cm, including the frame.
Reverse painting on glass is an art form consisting of applying paint to a piece of glass and then viewing the image by turning the glass over and looking through the glass at the image. I've added my own twist by applying mixed media, such as paper and gold leaf. This makes it a challenge but rewarding way to create original pieces.
